In this mini series I focus on light.
Three intimate glimpses into an uneventful day of a man, his movement frozen in time. Yet the light around him keeps evolving, playing, orchestrating.
Without light, we are nothing but formless ideas. It reveals us to the world and offers us a way to sort the chaos around us.
The iridescent foils, allowing for the atmosphere of the artwork to change incessantly, are the crucial element of this series.
Depending on the surrounding light conditions and the angle of the viewer, the artwork shows a changing palette of colors, bathing the scene in completely different atmospheric moods, times of day and underlying emotions.
To achieve this effect, I laminate iridescend foil over each artwork by hand. Small folds and creases in the foil make for a unique and organic pattern in the smooth the color surface.

He’s only dancing for himself, quietly expressing this fleeting emotion running through his body.
Yet the light sets a stage for him — and forces the viewer to intrude as his audience.
waking light

Light is close to loosing its influence here, for his dreams are illuminated by something else.
But what are we witnessing in this scene? Torturing insomnia? The final act of another exhausting day? Or an optimistic dawn of new beginnings?

Strolling through the city aimlessly but not without purpose. The light his quiet companion, guiding him and playfully teasing his senses.
