Neon City

Paintings 2021 — ongoing
I embrace big cities as the stage for my artworks.
The tension between the buzzing life of thousands of people and the anonymous individual lost in the masses intrigues me —
how everyone is but a lonely cog and yet the center of their whole universe.
The stories I paint here are of quiet empowerment, fleeting connections and the yearning for authenticity.
I paint these artworks digitally (all human, no AI) - but I hate the anonymity of „prints“.
So my workflow includes printing the artwork on fineart canvas, put it on a stretcher frame and embellish each piece by hand: I overpaint important areas with acrylic paint, often neon or metallic paint, to enhance the colors in a way no print can deliver.
Then I treat the artwork with UV varnish and overpaint it with structured medium for a painted three dimensional experience — each surface is unique and offers a haptic experience in addition to the visual presence of the artwork
BROKEN MASK
(2025 | Mixed Media)
The weight of the mask is gone. Its shelter is gone.
Where will you go from here — bare, exposed and entirely on your own?
Raindance
(2024 | mixed media)
This dancer embraces his universe — even shares it with the world. Showing courage and vulnerability in uncertainty.
Maybe everyone is watching? Maybe no one is watching? Which thought is more terrifying?
Stranger’s eye
(2022 | Mixed Media)
It’s you, my love, it’s you who are the stranger. [L. Cohen]
A fragment of time suspended in eye contact.
How long will it last? Could be a glance, could be a lifetime.
CUTT off
(2024 | Digital Painting)
Inside, solitude. Outside, rain, light and the distant pulse of lives unfolding elsewhere.
A quiet moment shaped by distance, longing and the sense of being left just outside of it.
