states of being
\\ embodied qualities
fpaintings 2025 — ongoing
In this series of sketchy paintings I aim to capture different qualities of attitude, different states of being as they flicker accross our surface like a short but powerful burst of energy.
We cannot not communicate and our bodies are canvases that show to the world what is brimming within.
I start with drawing these pieces digitally on my ipad (each stroke is human — no AI involved!).
Then I print it on high quality fineart paper with a velvety, structured texture. On this paper, the deep black ink lines fuse perfectly with the velvety surface, creating an incredibly rich and organic artwork with haptic allure.
I carve the hanko-style stamps (the Japanese words) by hand, then create unique paints for each artwork and enhance them with e.g. metal flakes to create visual effects in the stamp that elevate the artwork to a sensory experience going far beyond that of a simple print.
tentative
(2026| Mixed Media)
He wants the connection. He is ready to show his body. But is he ready to show himself?
ambition
(2025| Mixed Media)
He knows his goal. He is prepared to sacrifice a lot to reach it. Because he knows that it matters.
determination
(2025| Mixed Media)
It’s giving him solace that he made the decision. Now there’s free energy, there’s focus, there’s peace.
Sovereignty
(2026| Mixed Media)
He is out there. He is proud. He is vulnerable. He is terrified.
He never wanted to rule alone.
adornment
(2026| Mixed Media)
He is delicate and beautiful. He’s not like anybody else. He is free and he is willing to throw himself out there, because he knows he’s far from fragile.
Yet, their gazes feel like tender kisses on his skin, providing him with the air to breathe.
force
(2026| Mixed Media)
There is this deep conviction that he will make it. Life is happening and he will have to react and respond again, soon.
But the knowledge of what he already survived allows him to take this moment — to ground himself and tone out the noise for a bit.
deviance
(2026| Mixed Media)
He once played by their rules.
Sat, fetched and rolled over when they told him to. They offered him praise and something they called love.
And he dispised them for making him feel dead inside, to have robbed him of his freedom.
Now he wishes he’d seen the truth sooner. They were never the ones to blame.
